IAG kick off their fourth season...
iag fc - barnsley 10 Dec 9 2010 and IAG FC kick off their fourth season at the Powerdome...

IAG FC kicked off their fourth season in the Powerdome League with a win, a draw and a defeat. Prior to the fixtures, IAG had been informed that they were to play this season in Division One, a slightly disappointing situation as they had wanted to earn their place in the top division on merit. However, administrative problems, teams pulling out etc had made the format change inevitable and the league was only able to run two divisions. Due to IAG's league position last season therefore, it was the right thing that IAG had to move up, but it meant some very tough matches ahead!
On a bitterly cold day on which a number of teams were unable to travel, IAG began their fourth season at the Powerdome against old foes FC Bolton and it took a goal for the Lancastrians to bring the Macclesfield outfit to life. IAG hit back with two goals in a minute from Steve Melton and new signing Bobby Greenwood, and when Melton netted his second near the end, the season had been started in the best possible fashion. The second match saw IAG pit their wits against pre season favourites and very experienced Manchester Grassroots now playing under the name Manchester City FC. An early goal against seemed to inspire IAG and they fought hard but were a little wasteful in front of goal and the all round strength and depth of possession began to tell as the Manchester lads ran out 0-3 winners. The last match saw another tough fixture against Salford Early Intervention. This was a cracking game with the action flowing from one end to the next at breakneck speed but neither side appeared to have the necessary composure in front of goal and a 0-0 draw saw the points deservedly shared. As seems customary nowadays, the action finished with a warm down friendly against IAG Stoke and goals from Greenwood and newcomer Rob Stapley earned a 2-2 draw.
