IAG get maximum points... |
13 February 2011 and IAG FC take maximum points from their league fixtures...
IAG roared into the New Year with a bang gaining maximum points in their fixtures. Preston Pumas provided the first opposition and the previous season had proved to be a hard nut to crack. This time however, IAG played some great football and blew the Lancastrians away 4-1 with Steve Melton and Rob Stapley scoring a brace apiece. New Way Forward were due next but failed to show giving IAG the win bonus with a 2-0 W/O. Finally, a weakened Salford Grassroots East were no match for the Macclesfield lads and were duly seen off 4-0, goals from Melton, Stapley and two from Bobby Greenwood ensuring the points. A friendly against Calderdale was hastily arranged to make up for the unplayed league match and a cracking game saw the Blackburn based side edge the match 3-4 despite strikes from Greenwood (2) and Stapley. Mention must be made for the excellent defensive contributions from Chris Tipton, Jon Naylor and Rob McNay, and also Andy Mulley looking very lively up front. All in all an excellent days football which saw IAG push up the table to challenge all of the early season pacemakers. |
