IAG FC win the cup!
dscf3468 22nd September 2011 and IAG win the cup!!!

After four long years of trying, IAG FC finally clinched their first silverware with a devastating set of performances in the pre-season Grassroots Trophy at the Powerdome in Manchester. Drawn in a group of four, IAG's first opponents were something of an unknown quantity in the shape of Nottinghamshire side Rowan Rovers, who unfortunately played the first half of the game a man down believing it to be a five a side tournament! By the time they, and everybody else realised their error, they were unfortunately already four goals down. The extra man certainly evened the game up but IAG were always on the front foot and emerged with a 7-1 victory to get their campaign off on the right foot. Scorers here were David Dunn (5) and Huzzy Mustafa (2). Crumpsall Boavistas were then put to the sword 12-2 in a terrific performance which saw hat tricks for Rob McNay and Mustafa, four from Dunn and one from Sean McCormick. Dunn (2) and Mustafa were again on target as IAG Stoke were despatched 3-0 and a place in the quarter finals against FC Bolton beckoned.
The Lancastrians put up a determined display but were swept aside 5-0 by a now rampant IAG side, a Dunn hat trick and a brace from Mustafa completing the job. New territory then for the Macclesfield team never having been in a semi final before, but the team showed no nerves brushing fancied team Access 100 aside 2-0, both goals for Dunn who was having a day to remember. Jamie Hyde was also having a fantastic tournament in goal, highlighted in this match with a superb penalty save. Into the final against experienced campaigners Manchester City A, IAG struck within seconds of the kick off after a thunderbolt from Dunn opened the scoring. City equalized soon after but from then on IAG took control and goals from McNay and another from Dunn clinched a 3-1 victory and some deserved silware at last for the Macc team. The day was made complete when David Dunn was voted player of the tournament, but mention should be made of the unsung heroes Andy Mulley, a tireless worker in attack and Chris Tipton, a rock at the heart of the defence. Sean McCormick added fizz and energy to the midfield while Jamie Hyde exuded confidence with a faultless display between the sticks. Rob McNay was outstanding and Huzzy Mustafa was a constant threat and provided great support to star man Dunn.
