Heartbreak as IAG come up just short...
dscf3468 Heartbreak as IAG just fall short in their hunt for honours...

IAG endured a heartbreaking finale to their season, coming up just short in the race for the runners up spot at the Powerdome in Manchester. Things started off well for the Macclesfield side as they thumped Yorkshire outfit Calderdale 6-2 in the statutory friendly that they had to play. Andy Mulley, new boy David "Dids" Dunn with two, Rob Stapley and Huzzy Mustafa with another two sealing an emphatic win. Next up was the winner takes all clash with old foes Wigan Athletic. What followed was ranked by those who saw it as one of the games of the season as both teams went hammer and tongs at each other. Both keepers were tested and pulled off some great saves, new boy Jamie Hyde for IAG earning praise for his work between the sticks. However, Wigan took the lead mid way through the contest but IAG battled back to equalize through Stapley, only to see the Lancastrians net in the dying seconds. The 1-2 reverse was a crushing blow but full credit to the lads who went on to play their final fixture of the season against Crumpsall Boavistas and gained some measure of satisfaction running out 6-0 winners. Mustafa and Chris Tipton with two apiece with Dunn and Mulley completing the rout. So, a great season in many ways, finishing third in their first season in the top division deserves mention and Player of the Year was striker Andy Mulley. All eyes now look towards Gottingen in Germany as IAG travel at the end of the month for the annual EASI Cup.
